Summary:

Katsuki has worked hard to get where he is. He's had many challenges and has changed for the better. He has lots of friends and the public really likes him. But now the League is back, and everyone he loves is dead. How will he get out of this one? Hint: He won't

Notes:

So, this isn't what I really had in mind wen I first started. I'm not sure if I like the story or not yet...

Work Text:

The moment you arrived they built you up

When he was four he got his quirk. It was loud, bright, and explosive. Just like him. It was perfect! The perfect quirk for the future number one hero! Katsuki was beyond ecstatic.

The sun was in your eyes

When he got to school everyone was crowding around him, saying over and over; how strong he was, how lucky he was, how great he was. He was gonna be the number one Hero!

You couldn't believe it

Looking back that’s probably where it all started.

Riches all around

All the other kindergartners started to get their quirks as well. But Katsuki had the best, the loudest, the most noticeable. And everyone told him repeatedly.

you're walking

Years past and Katsuki got stronger, but his mindset never changed. He was the best! He was always going to be the best! And no quirkless loser would stop that.

“DEKU”

Stars are on the ground

Everything about Katsuki reeked confidence. He was the best! No one in his worthless Junior High could compete with him, ‘cuz like he was always told, he’s the best.

You start to believe it

People started to call him arrogant, boastful, mean. But he was none of those things. He couldn’t be. He was going to be a hero, he would always win, prove is worth. And anyone who said otherwise was worthless and jealous.

Every face along the boulevard is a dreamer just like you

“But of course you all want to be Heroes!”
It’s the common thing, kids all think they can do it, with useless quirks. But no, you’ve gotta be strong. Katsuki can make it, everyone says so!

You looked at death in a tarot card and you saw what you had to do

The first time Katsuki realized he needed help was with the slime villain. He was strong, he could get out of this! Somehow! He just had to think, his quirk wasn't working and he couldn’t breath. The Heroes were right there! They could get him out!

But they never came. They stood there and watched. Watched as he struggled, begging for help, realizing none would come. They were Heroes god damn it! Why couldn't they help one kid!

But nobody knows you now

But that was the past. That was when he was an angry arrogant child having to prove himself to the world.

When you're dying in LA

He would be better than them.

And nobody owes you now

He would help everyone, whenever he could. No matter the situation.

When you're dying in LA

He would be the best.

Oh the power, the power, the power Of LA

Being a Hero wasn't as easy as everyone made it out to be. It was heartbreaking at times, learning that not everyone could be saved. That he would come too late. They would die in his arms. Not everyone could stomach that, a few people dropped the course.

Nights at the chateau

Graduation. Katsuki wasn’t the same person. Three years had really changed him. He was ready to go out and do his best. He got back in touch with Deku. Did speeches against quirk discrimination. Everyone loved him.

Trapped in your sunset bungalow

He couldn’t get out of his head. The people wanted a Hero, but he needed a break. He failed, he couldn’t save a kid that relieved his misery. Surrounded by Heroes, no one helping, strangled to death.

Katsuki broke.

You couldn't escape it, yeah

Everywhere he looked he saw the kid, and others. Everyone needed help, but he could never get there. He was failing them!

Drink of paradise

Why did everyone believe in him growing up? Why did they only think he could do it? He couldn’t even save those who mattered, so why? Why him?

They told you

His family. Gone. His classmates. Gone. Dek-Izuku. Gone. Sensei. Gone. Everyone Was dead and it was his fault!

"Put your blood on ice You're not gonna make it"

He pulled away. He became unrecognizable. He still worked of course. He wasn’t a quitter. He would start over. Prove himself again. No one would suffer because Heroes were incompetent.

Every face along the boulevard is a dreamer just like you

All the kids he met during his quirk speeches wanted to be Heroes. Of course. That’s normal. No one knows the pain, until they live it.

You looked at death in a tarot card and you saw what you had to do

The league was back, Katsuki had no idea how. The originals were still in jail, he checked, but this group was stronger than before.

But nobody knows you now

No one was there with him. He had to do this alone. And he would! No one would suffer for him!

He could do this.

When you're dying in LA

Until he couldn’t.

And nobody owes you now

He was alone. Fully alone. But no one suffered, he saved everyone he could.

When you're dying in LA

He could finally see his family an friends again! He would die a Hero!

Oh the power, the power, the power Of LA

But of course, he wasn’t the only one to live such a life. The Hero society was fucked, and no one had plans to make changes. So every Hero lived like Katsuki, over and over again.

Notes:

The other one was probably better...
