“Nick he— well I guess we.. a few nights ago, in the elevator—“ she looks down at her hands. She really really should wash them. Now that there’s nothing she can do for him. Not that there was ever anything in the first place. “We kissed.” she blurts out.
Karadec doesn’t react and she keeps going. “We kissed and then we didn’t even talk about it! I told— I told him we would, that we’d get back around to it. I was too busy accusing him of working for his father that I ignored what really mattered. I just— I thought—“ her breath hitches, “—that we had time. I thought we had time. I know Nick was.. hard to work with sometimes. But I liked him, Adam, I really really liked him.”Nick doesn't make it. Morgan's barely making it. Karadec has to make it work.

"Morgan," he says, his voice lower this time. "What are you doing here?" He takes a step into the house as well, causing her to step further back.
Still, she doesn't say anything. And it's driving him absolutely insane.
"I don't want to think," she finally answers. "About today."
"What about today?" Wagner asks, stepping closer to her. Although he had been swimming, she could still smell his cologne, sandalwood and bergamont. He tilts her chin up gently with his finger, getting her to look at him.

It's not the sort of freeze that some passerby would notice, it's subtle, but Morgan can tell. His hand hovers over the table for a fraction of a second too long, and his jaw tightens.
"It's not," he says tightly.
Morgan giggles. "Obviously."
