Summary
Ever since starting their relationship a few months ago, Iso finds great enjoyment in these kinds of soft, simple comforts––Iso resting his hand on Gekko’s knee at team dinners and Gekko sliding his fingers in between Iso’s, Gekko and Iso going out for late afternoon boba and sharing sips of their drinks, and Gekko burying his face in the crook of Iso’s neck when his head is pounding and he needs a moment to ground himself. Gekko feels like a home for Iso, a shelter of joy and contentment. In the endless everyday chaos of the Protocol, Gekko is a beacon of peace. Simple, meaningful pleasures.

Summary
“Some believe that black butterflies are symbols of renewal—rebirth.” She smiles wistfully as one of the fragile little creatures perches on her finger, “Others believe that they are harbingers of death and other misfortune.”
“A harbinger of death…” He traces a finger over the left wing of the pinned butterfly that Thanatos had gifted him. Persephone’s smile widens, a knowing gleam in her gentle green eyes as she beholds her son.
“You know…” his mother taps him on the shoulder, an inch or so away from his keepsake. “Purple butterflies have a very special meaning as well. They’re a reminder to be patient and keep the faith, to have courage and trust in yourself.” She says.
Zagreus blushes violently, “I… really don’t know if Thanatos put that much thought into it…” Oh, what is he saying? Of course Thanatos had put that much thought into his keepsake. Thanatos thinks deeply about everything.
Persephone shrugs, unconvinced. “A mother knows these things, darling.”
