Jiang Cheng has never been close to Lan Xichen, but he's well versed with the way the other man smiles – gentle, yes; welcoming, friendly, always sincere – but never familiar.
Lan Xichen smiles now, at Jiang Cheng, and his whole face lights up. He smiles at Jiang Cheng with none of his usual polite distance; he smiles like Jiang Cheng is his entire world.
And that's the first time Jiang Cheng meets that Lan Xichen.

“What?” Lan Xichen blinks.
“Is it me, I said,” Jiang Cheng says again, this time growing more short tempered. “Lan Xichen, we’ve been married for almost three weeks now.”
“Yes,” Lan Xichen says, not only confused but cautious now. (After all, the Jiang clan elders did warn him that Jiang Wanyin inherited his mother’s temper.) “That is true.”
“Then how come,” Jiang Cheng snaps, “you haven’t even tried to have sex with me once?”

“How much did Wei Wuxian pay you?” Jiang Cheng asks.
Lan Xichen’s lips quirk. “I thought that might be your reaction,” he murmurs. His tone is teasing when he reminds Jiang Cheng, “Your brother doesn’t have enough money to be able to afford to play pranks like this on you.”
It doesn’t go unnoticed to Jiang Cheng that Lan Xichen has sneakily slipped in the fact that he knows who Wei Wuxian is to Jiang Cheng, even though that information wasn’t volunteered.

Summary
Jiang Cheng, resident Angry Guy and heir to a conglomerate empire, has never been the apple of his father’s eye. One problem: he can’t sing to save his goddamn life.
As he struggles to develop his nascent singing abilities, Jiang Cheng finds himself sucked into the whirlwind drama of reality TV, helped along by his adoring siblings, his irritable vocal coach Wen Qing, and strangely enough, the unfairly attractive host of the All-Stars Lan Talent Hunt, Lan Xichen. Somewhere in the glare of the stage lights and an unexpected first love, Jiang Cheng stumbles upon the thing he was searching for all along: the courage to dream — and to attempt the impossible.
The first half was completed as part of the 2019 MXTX Bang. The second half has been completed as part of the 2022 MDZS WIP Bang and updates every Saturday.
