Summary
"However, this sceptic had one fanaticism. This fanaticism was neither a dogma, nor an art, nor a science; it was a man: Enjolras. Grantaire admired, loved, and venerated Enjolras."
Victor Hugo, Les MiserablesGrantaire is Enjolras' Guide: his mated pair, his other half. If only Enjolras could see that.

Summary
Snatching the folded paper she kept hidden in her pocket, she muttered the password and ink swirled around on the page. The hexed paper was filled with Grantaire’s doodles and the lines kept growing.
Enjolras left class. Magnus Flourish called him a mudblood.
The makings of what looked like a sparrow’s wing halted suddenly like Grantaire had jerked his hand to a stop.

Summary
The Americans are everywhere. Loud, boisterous, drunken, prone to inappropriate touching. These are Grantaire’s people. He’s never been so relieved. Last week it was Belgians, and they wouldn’t even share their alcohol. Never try and drink with Belgians.

Modern AU. Enjolras is a rising political force in America. Grantaire is a well-known photojournalist. They've been together for almost a decade.
“R on line three, sir.”
“Thank you, Cosette, but I'm already on lines one and two--”
“He says it's important, sir.” Cosette readjusts her attendant clipboard. “A code black, sir.”

Summary
There's no emotion in the look Enjolras gives him at all beyond recognition, yet it still pierces Grantaire through like a lepidopterist's pin through the body of a specimen; a knife thrust through two years of separation that brings the entire complex whirl of feelings he's been suppressing for the last two months to the fore.
There's no doubt about it: he's still got it bad.

Summary
Shane’s heart drops into his stomach. “Ilya,” he breathes. His vision goes blurry, throat tight. He tries to swallow it down and focus, shove his swirling thoughts into a neat little box, but it’s impossible. He feels—he might throw up, actually. “Are you seriously telling me you tried to fucking kill yourself?”
“Yes,” Ilya agrees blandly, “It did not work.”
Ilya calls Shane from the hospital. Shane handles it very normally.

Summary
In a world where dreamsharing is illegal, Enjolras rights the world's wrongs by going into the minds of those he deems unworthy, stealing their secrets and correcting their faults. Combeferre is the steady right-hand, Courfeyrac is the greatest forger to have ever lived, and Grantaire is the only Architect that matters.
Only no one's seen Grantaire since the mess in Sicily, the Amis are split across the world, and Enjolras has spent the last four years in prison.

Summary
Grantaire has a plan: he’s going to ask Enjolras out on a date, and then kiss him exactly once, maybe just on the cheek. Enjolras will say no to the date. Enjolras will gently but coldly rebuke him. And then Grantaire will make himself get over him.
It’s actually one small section of what he affectionately calls his "Stop Being Such A Fucking Mess" plan, but, admittedly, it’s an important one. Being hopelessly, desperately in love with Enjolras hasn’t exactly made him feel particularly good about himself, nor has it made him drink less, nor has it made him go to sleep early instead of staying up all night painting somebody he can never have.

Summary
So, the protest wasn’t exactly… It wasn’t great.
Ha, Grantaire’s pretty sure that’s the understatement of the decade. It was fucking chaos, that’s what it was. It was people yelling, scrambling to get off the streets and out of the crowd and away from the water canons, and teargas hanging like fog in the air and gendarmes fucking everywhere, and it was-
It was Enjolras, at Grantaire’s side one moment and the next? Just fucking gone. He’d looked, God knows he’d looked, for a flash of golden hair, of bright red jacket, but… nothing. Nothing.

Summary
The trick, Grantaire decided long ago, is simply to keep Enjolras from realizing just how much he likes him, at all costs.
That’s hardly news. He’s had that policy for years and years. He’s had that policy since he first met Enjolras, the both of them in college and Enjolras blindingly young and passionate and beautiful (and impossibly scrawny and dorky and painfully genuine), because, by no coincidence at all, that’s also pretty much when he fell in love with him.

Summary
“I’m not sure what happened,” Grantaire admits to Combeferre. His arm is in a cast, and he can feel the tight stretch on stitches on his forehead, but the most pertinent problem really is the panic growing in his belly. His drawing arm is in a cast. The arm he uses to make art, the only part of him that really truly needs to be functional for him to have the future he wants, and it’s in a cast, and he has no idea what he did.
Combeferre’s face turns concerned. “Your head wound didn’t look bad enough for a concussion…” He pauses, eyebrows near touching in thought. He grabs Grantaire’s chart off the bed and flips through it. The tension leaves his eyebrows and they instead skyrocket towards his hairline. “Your blood alcohol level was extremely high, Grantaire. Do you remember drinking?”

Summary
The mark had appeared on Grantaire on his sixteenth birthday, just like everyone else, a black handprint on his body in the place his soulmate would first touch him. He had tried his hardest to stay up and watch it happen, but he had been up every day that week writing a twenty page research paper, and he had fallen asleep a little before midnight and woken up to his alarm blaring at 7:15. He had rushed to the bathroom, excited—the fucking idiocy of it all—to see the spot where his soulmate would first lay hands on him.
Most of his friends had ink black splotches in the shape of fingertips or palms on their hands or wrists, the occasional shoulder or back. Grantaire’s reflection showed a blackened handprint covering his mouth. The very first time his soulmate would ever touch him would be to cover his mouth.

Summary
"Have you slept?" he asks. Enjolras's shoulders shift, almost imperceptibly; the tension in them changes as his posture regains its usual firmness. "Have you stopped at all since Prairial?"
"That's not your concern."
