“And what’s your name?”
Wooyoung suddenly regretted drawing attention to himself. “Wooyoung.”
“Wooyoung,” San repeated, and he tried not to visibly react, “were we the best show you’ve ever seen?” San had crept closer. Wooyoung wasn’t sure if the rest of the room was quiet or if he’d just drowned them out.
“I mean, probably in the top five.”

Wooyoung sighed loudly. “I’m stranded at the train station, San. The blizzard is about to hit within the hour and they just shut everything down except for the local subways,” he explained. Then, in a smaller voice, “I have nowhere to go.”
Despite Wooyoung’s obvious frustration, there was the barest trace of fear laced in his voice. San hadn’t heard from him in months, but he could still detect the minute inflections of emotion that hid within his cadence.
“Come to my apartment, I’m not too far away. You can stay here.” San offered without any further hesitation.

Summary
There are five new players on their squad this season—they’ve discussed the changes before their break, once management finalised all the transfers. There’d been no mention of a Wooyoung.
“Which Wooyoung? Jung Wooyoung? From Gimpo FC?”
“That’s the one.”
Though he tries to be rational about the news, San can’t stop the feeling in his stomach—like a pit opening up, full of dread and a whole other kind of nerves. They make his breath catch, his skin feels like it’s crawling with spiders. Because, if San is the golden boy of his team, the striker that has almost brought Ulsan a victory, Jung Wooyoung is the striker who finished last season with a trophy.
It’s one of the many differences between them.
After Wooyoung joins Ulsan KQ, San’s whole life turns upside down.
