Shen Qingqiu, in his years in this role, has never harmed Luo Binghe. He hasn’t betrayed Luo Binghe yet. Shen Qingqiu has become far too accustomed to their easy, fond companionship. He forgets, in this moment, the way qi balance shifting wildly out of equilibrium can make people behave in unexpected, unpredictable, often violent ways.

Summary
For disciples, receiving the direct attention of a god is supposed to be a blessing, a sign of incomparable talent and a glorious future serving the Heavens. Though the burdens may be heavy, and expectations heavier, the rewards can only be that much sweeter.
Instead, Luo Binghe's years of torment under Shen Qingqiu are rewarded with the loss of everything he's ever known or hoped for. Revealed to be a half-demon during the proving ceremony that would have named him paladin, he finds himself forced to flee into the Endless Abyss: a barren wasteland, taboo even to demons, where all the world's greatest evils are said to be locked away.
What he meets is Shenyuan, God of the Abyss, imprisoned and abandoned in the ruins of his former nation. Great and terrible, a stroke of black ink boldly splashed across Heaven's perfect tapestry, a force of malice capable of overturning the earth and cracking the sky like glass, Shenyuan seizes him in vines and... heals all his wounds.
And suddenly, Luo Binghe has a new god.

Summary
Shen Qingqiu should never have come to Jinlan City. He should have listened to his doctor, sat his ass down, and stayed at the sect. But no! He decided it would be interesting to investigate the creepy plague, ignore the small child determinedly trying to send them away, and get immediately infected by who- or whatever the carrier of the plague is!
As if that weren’t enough, when he and Gongyi Xiao split up to investigate the brothel, the first door Shen Qingqiu opens reveals not only the body of the woman who died here, but also releases a burst of something—dust? Pollen? A powdery makeup, even?—directly in Shen Qingqiu’s face.
or: Shen Qingqiu, Secret Omega Extraordinaire, has finally burned through all his luck. Regarding that particular secret, at least.

“Does Luo Binghe truly not drink human blood?”
Luo Binghe hesitated. He experienced a flash of memories: human skin under his mouth, the taste of their blood, the smell of it, rich and irresistible. It had been so long since he had broken human skin with his teeth, and if he thought about it too long, if he remembered what it felt like, something hot and uncontrollable would rise in his throat. He didn’t know what the feeling was but it made him feel dangerous. He was scared of that feeling. He longed for it. He didn’t know how to be the thing that he was.
Shen Qingqiu had asked if he drank human blood. Luo Binghe said, “this disciple does not, Shizun.” And he didn’t. Not anymore, at least. It wasn’t a lie. It just wasn’t the truth.
