Summary
Generations ago, dragons and humans formed lifelong Bonds that granted both parties magical powers. A group called the Reachers, open for any Bonded pair to join, taught and honed these skills and kept peace between the two species. However, three Dragon Queens and a Bewilderbeast, in their hatred of humans and jealousy of the Reachers' power, attacked and destroyed Dragonspire, the Reacher headquarters. With their ability to corrupt the minds of dragons, they turned their kind against humans and have been ravaging their lands ever since. Hundreds of years later, Striker and Bjorn, a Bonded Night Fury and human, reeling from the recent loss of their mate and wife respectively, must travel to Berk to find the expecting mother of a child who is Soulbound to an unhatched Night Fury egg. While they are just planning to find and keep the mother and child alive, they end up with so much more: friendship, family and maybe - just maybe - freedom.
