“Can you hear me?” he said. “Doctor?”
From somewhere in the Doctor’s throat there came a low, rumbling sound. His heart sank.
“Oh, you didn’t just growl at me,” he groaned.
Once, not long after he’d met the Doctor, they’d landed on some nameless moon with a dense stone forest. There’d been reptilian things living there big enough to swallow a person whole. He remembered staring one in the face. That vast mouth opening, revealing rows of teeth like knives. In that moment he’d understood, fully and viscerally, how it must feel to be a mouse trapped by a cat.
It didn’t make any sense, but looking into the Doctor’s eyes was giving him the same sensation.
The Doctor gets dosed with nanomachines designed to induce a primal fear response. Gallifreyan basic instincts and human basic instincts are not the same.

Summary
'It's not House that scares me but all this.' Amy gestured about her, meaning the TARDIS itself. 'It hid itself so easily. Pretended to be technology rather than an organic being.' Her voice was hollow, detached. Disassociation in action. If not for Rory pulling her along, she would have stopped walking entirely. They had to keep moving, the TARDIS was protecting them from House but at the cost of not hiding its true nature. That nature was infinitely more dangerous than House could ever be.

"This wasn't supposed to happen, he was so careful to not be detected. He had failed and now Nico stood there with what he supposed was a stupid look on his face with an arrow pointed directly at his face. An annoyed looking Hawkeye stood behind the bow shouting something, but Nico couldn't hear it. His mind was numb, they where going to lock him up, torture him, he was never going to Will again...with that he numbly realized that he had dropped the object he was holding and had raised his arms over his head. With a clatter the scepter hit the floor and the infinity stone jostled."
Or alternatively, Nico goes on a quest and gets captured by the Avengers. Shit blows up, Nico swears (a lot) and the avengers aren't to happy with Nico.
Oh also, the mist is falling and demigods everywhere are panicking. What else could possibly go wrong?
Warnings for small amounts of torture in later chapters, memories of torture, and Peter Parker being an angel of earth.
