Qifrey's first heat was awful. It hurt, he was barely conscious, and from Beldaruit's words, clingy. And it being awful was likely the reason why he was still alive.
After being cured from the curse, Qifrey now has to deal with a disaster that is his collapsing body.

“Hey, little witch, we need some help over here.”
If Olruggio hadn’t stopped to admire a display of beautiful lanterns—crafted by hand, not magic—in a shop window, he might not have heard the call. Something about it sent a dark chill crawling up his spine, and he snapped his head up just in time to see Tetia, trailing a little behind Qifrey and the rest of the girls, pause and turn toward the mouth of the alley.
And that pause was all that was needed for an arm to snatch out and pull Tetia out of sight.

“Master! Master Qifrey! Coco’s hurt!”
Agott’s worried voice echoes from upstairs in the entry hall, carrying down the steps into the kitchen where Qifrey is working.
“I–I’m ok!” Coco hollers in reassurance, but Qifrey’s hands have already dropped the herbs they were binding without a second thought, leaving a scatter of tranquileaf sprigs strewn about the counter. The tone of Agott’s voice had sent a hot jolt of protective fear through his insides, his heart leaping to his throat, beating fast. He nearly trips over his skirt as he hustles up the stone steps into the living room.
.................................................Coco gets a nasty boo-boo, and Qifrey helps get her fixed up. Some big feelings come to the surface and they share an emotional moment.
