It didn’t phase Vil at first.
He was used to preening and obsessing over his appearance in the mirror, double checking makeup he could apply in his sleep, optimizing every pixel of a selfie before posting it to Magicam.
To pay just a little bit more attention was natural. Easy, so easy, to let his mind wander.
He leaned closer to mirrors when examining his eyes, suddenly worried he'd made his mascara run. He kept imagining black streaming from his tear ducts, his pores, running down his face and coating his skin…
Even class was starting to be a problem as he meticulously checked his hands for ink stains. It would be all too easy to drag a sleeve through fresh letters or to rest his hand in the wrong place. His skin had to be unblemished, unmarked, untouched.
