Summary
In the new world, Homura listens in to people's innermost thoughts to make sure nothing goes awry. She picks up on Madoka's innermost desire, her wish -
'I wish I had a best friend.'
And so, Homura provides. Madoka doesn't remember her, so she can be anything Madoka wants her to be, including her best friend. She can, maybe, even be human again, or something close to it.
But at midnight, Cinderella's dress is destined to turn to rags, her carriage to a pumpkin, and her steed into mice. No matter what you pretend to be, what you are is still underneath.

This fic is based off the short film LUCA, in which Nene meets a strange girl who can shapeshift into anything Nene wants, but who can't retain her form for very long. Still, the two become friends, but soon Nene realises that Luca wants things from her that she's unwilling to give. Homura wants Madoka to stay ignorant, for that she'll do anything, she'll become anyone. But Madoka is destined to find out the truth eventually, the truth about herself, about the world, and about Homura. And when that happens, she'll need to make a choice.
