Keigo’s eyes settled on a dark spot on Dabi’s chest—several dark spots, splattered over the pale skin, messy and placed there without a care. Without a purpose, without any thought.
“No, idiot. That’s a hickey.” Dabi’s tone was deflecting, hands tightening on Keigo’s hips, digging into the skin, fingernails leaving crescent moons in their wake. It stung.
“Oh,” he paused, chewing the inside of his cheek until it was bloody and raw, leaving his mouth sore and the next words unsteady. They spilled over his lips like the bloody spit was threatening to do because he was stupid and greedy and naive when it came to Dabi.
“Where did ya get them?”
“Dunno. Just some chick at the bar last night.”

Dabi pressed him firmer into the ground, face slammed against the concrete. A dull crack echoed in the room at the impact, Hawks’ cheeks squished and throbbing.
Burning tears pooled in his eyes. Tears he refused to let fall. Didn’t deserve it, not when he was at fault.

“Yeah? That’s why you almost slashed the guy to threads, dove?” Dabi knows he is being mean with his teasing.
Hawks is running on instincts right now, after all, but it's hilarious enough to completely forgo teasing him about it. Not when he is such an easy target.
Hawks pushes at his mate’s shoulder with a huff.
“He was being mean to you,” he says, the pout clear in his words. Only pictures of kicked puppies help Dabi suppress the amused snort, that threatens to slip past his lips.

But before Dabi can retort, Hawks is on the guy, swinging his arm and punching the fuckers face with a threatening growl. A crack echoes through the silent room as Keigo breaks his nose.
Blood stains the hero’s fist as he bares his fangs, looking feral and ready to pounce right back on him.
“One more word and I will rip your vocal cords out,” Hawks snaps at the Beta, all teeth and ready to rip his throat out.

“What are you doing in my closet?” Dabi asks again, brow raised in question, fingertips tapping a slow rhythm against the wooden closet door.
And then Hawks looks up at the villain and then his surroundings and slowly realization creeps up on him, making his cheeks heat in embarrassment as he stutters through a half-baked explanation.

“This? No, that’s baby puke,” Touya points to one green spot on his shirt and then points to another. “This though? That’s either mashed broccoli or something else entirely.”
Keigo shudders at the realization at first, but then leans closer, nuzzles his cheek against Touya’s neck, and kneads a little bit firmer to make up for half the day he missed with his family.

He knows he’s being mean, and maybe, yes, maybe even a little bit moody. But damn it. It was his body that was changing, and he wasn’t ready to accept that yet, his mate's constant worry was slowly getting to him.
“But you will,” Keigo tries to reason, wiggling the pillow in his hands to emphasize the softness.
