"If only we'd met a few years earlier..."
There's been news about a cursed child moving into town. The townsfolk are ruffled; Akira is unconcerned. There are far more pressing issues to fixate on—like pestering this random boy in the woods into becoming his life-long rival.
Meanwhile, Goro has only just moved into the soon-to-be newest installment of his long line of failed foster homes and he's somehow already picked up a second shadow. His pest is naïve, delusional, and a total space case. Not to mention, Goro's pretty sure he only has a single brain cell bouncing around in that souped-up skull of his.
At the very least, he's entertaining.
In which Akira and Goro do indeed meet earlier. And the consequences are permanent.

Summary
Akechi Goro is in love with his best friend, Kurusu Akira. Like, head-over-heels, obsessively-helicopter-surveilling-him, willing-to-kill-for-him type of love. Kurusu is an anomaly with a too-big heart, a frankly incomprehensible thought process, and a smile that induces life-threatening heart palpitations. He's wonderful.
It's too bad he's in love with someone else.

Joker is in love with his partner in crime, Crow. Like, head-over-heels, obsessively-chasing-after-him, willing-to-die-for-him type of love. Crow-senpai is a megalomaniac with a god-complex, a trigger-happy temper, and a mouth full of sulfuric acid that brings medically concerning flutters to his stomach. He's wonderful.
It's too bad he's in love with someone else.

somehow reading about adachi being a depraved bastard is what made me actually take interest in his character beyond "little incel man who hung out at junes, threw a fit, then banished himself to the shadow realm." now he is a Romanceable little incel man—yu's in fact! love how terrible of a husband he'd make. he just sucks! and that makes him all the more endearing!!
