Summary
Hen stares at Buck for a long moment, then turns on her heel to walk upstairs. “Chim! Did you know that Peanut is a human child and not a small animal?”
“Buck’s Peanut?” Chim calls back, leaning over the railing. “No? Is she not a dog?”
“No!” Buck replies. “She’s a preschooler!”OR: At 22, Buck got one of his hookups pregnant and decided to keep the baby himself rather than let her be put up for adoption. At 26, he joined the 118. You know the rest, right?

Summary
When the firefighter walks into Eddie's coffeeshop, Eddie immediately knows two things about him: he's not human, and he's the love of Eddie's life.
Oh, he knows a bunch of other things too, obviously. He's about thirty, a few months younger than Eddie himself. He has a scar on his throat, like he got stabbed there, and one of his legs has some metal rods in it that must have come from a bad injury. The guy doesn't know he's not human, which is a tricky thing to figure out, but Eddie's almost positive. Most of the non-humans he knows have always known they aren't people, but there are exceptions, and they tend to carry themselves differently. Ana before her first full moon as a werewolf had a very different vibe from Ana after.
The firefighter moves like he knows he doesn't belong, but not like he knows why. Like he's afraid of taking up space, afraid of being noticed.
As if Eddie is even capable of not noticing him.

Summary
The AU where Bobby adopted Evan when he was six years old, and then twenty years later Eddie joins the 118 and starts dating Buck... and no one initially realises that Evan and Buck are, in fact, the same person. Part 1 is the story of the identity shenanigans and the reveal.
Part 3 is a collection of missing scenes from the original story, while Parts 4 ('how it could have gone') and 5 ('another way it could have gone') are outtakes and depict two different scenarios where the reveal of Buck and Evan being the same person go a different way.
Part 2 'oh captain my captain' is a prequel and shows the 118 meeting Bobby and then later on Evan.
Part 6 'these are the days we've been waiting for' is the story of Buck's first day at the 118.
Part 7 'may you live in interesting times' is a sequel to that takes place about a year or so later, and Part 8 'I once was lost (but now I'm found)' directly follows on and is a full-length sequel and prequel to the main story.
This series as it is now is standalone and can be considered complete. The only reason I haven't marked it as such is because I do expect to be adding additional installments at some point in the future. Happy reading!

Summary
“What can I get for you?” When Buck opened his mouth to object, Tommy intervened. “We asked you out for drinks, we also know how much LAFD firefighters get paid compared to how much we earn. Let us pay.”
Buck gave in. “I’ll have an IPA.”
“Besides,” Eddie said and lowered himself onto the barstool next to Buck’s as the bartender shuffled off to the tap, “you’re a subscriber, right? You’re basically helping to fund this anyway.”

Summary
“You aren’t needed back for thirteen more days,” Captain Nash speaks calmly, “I thought you would spend it with your wife and child.”
“Aye,” Eddie says. He turns around to face his captain. “My son has been taken.”
“No man has ever come back from there,” Captain Nash says, “You know that, Eddie.”
The use of his given name forces him to turn his attention back to the man towering over him. “I know. But I have to try. And if somehow he’s still– It’s my son.”
Captain Nash considers him for a long moment, expression unreadable. Then finally, he holds the lantern that must have come from his chamber out to Eddie and says, “Let’s be on our way, then.”
Or, Christopher goes missing and pirate!eddie meets siren!buck.
