Bio
My name is Debbie and I've been involved in several fandoms, beginning with "Beauty and the Beast (1987)," then "Buffy" and "Angel," moving on to "Twilight." A few of my stories can be found on Fanfiction.net. Several years ago I became obsessed with Harry Potter, especially HP slash. Also in in love with BBC "Sherlock," and am an avid Johnlock advocate, though not fanatical about it. Well, maybe a *teensy* bit fanatical. ;-)
09/24/20 - Update on “Sherlock” obsession: I’ve come to realize that my love for the show wasn’t for the show, per se, but because of Benedict and Martin and their incredible talent at portraying the characters. Because, complete honesty here, for the most part I didn’t actually like the way that Moftiss wrote Sherlock, the character. It was definitely, almost defiantly, different from every other Sherlock characterization I’ve seen, and it brought to the show a modern sensibility regarding addiction, mental health, and especially the nature of friendship and romantic relationships. For that I give them kudos, even if they did opt for the traditional route, and apparently had never even considered going the non-traditional route, as regards Sherlock and John. Disappointing to many people, including myself.
Mary was always the pitfall. Once they decided to include her character, it was a no-win situation, IMO. If they kept her relegated to the background, as she was in the books once she and John married, they’d be roundly criticized for sidelining yet another female character. If they brought her to the foreground as, say, a third member of the team - well, no matter how she was included in the show there would be criticism. Shoot, I’m running out of room here. Suffice it to say, IMO they would have done better to kill her off almost immediately. Just my opinion, of course!
Newest obsessions: “Pride & Prejudice” variations and “Good Omens” (the TV movie/series).
