    Summary

“‘Course I’m okay.” Neil smiled peculiarly. “Tonight’s the night.”
    “What night?”
He laughed, staring absurdly. “The play. The play is tonight.”
    “It is?”
“What’s gotten into you, Todd?” He felt along his forehead for a fever he wouldn’t find.
Todd swallowed and started to bring himself off the floor. “Just had a weird dream, I guess.”

OR my timeloop fic where Todd gets stuck reliving the night of the play until he can save Neil

    Summary

Rooster doesn't find the helicopter in time the first time round. By the time he's ejected, packed his chute, and stumbled into the clearing, it's too late. He clutches Maverick's hand, trembling, and listens as his gurgling breaths grow shallow, the red stain on the snow beneath him growing larger.

Maverick wheezes out a final, rattling breath. Rooster chokes down a sob, curling over his body, and then -

And then he opens his eyes on the carrier, standing in front of his F/A-18.

    or:

Rooster finds himself looping back to the beginning of the Mission every time he or Maverick dies. (Though it’s mostly Maverick.)

    Summary

Goose brings a hand up to Maverick’s cheek, cups it, careful not to put pressure on the cuts or bruises. At the contact, Maverick does this sharp intake of breath — whether it’s from shock or pain, Goose doesn’t know, but his thumb brushes against the tip of Maverick’s beautiful nose and he loses the rest of his ability to really form thoughts at all. He swallows hard. Sweat tickles his hairline; he wipes it away, then leans forward and kisses Maverick’s temple.

Or, Goose walks in on Maverick dealing with the aftermath of a fight. When he pries, the truth comes out, explosively: Maverick had been kissing a guy, and someone beat him up for it.

That information greatly distresses Goose. Fortunately, he knows just how to make Maverick feel better.

Title from "Underwater," by Mika, which absolutely Fucks.

    Summary

One moment, Goose was hitting the canopy of the plane, the next he was standing in their shared room, watching Maverick curl in a ball in the corner, sobbing.

It was disorienting, the way it had happened. One second, Goose was in the air, adrenaline pumping through his veins as the F-14 spun out of control. Maverick had shouted his name, desperate and panicked, but Goose had stayed steady, already calculating how they were going to eject. Then the canopy had blown—too slow, too wrong—and Goose had felt the sharp crack of impact before everything turned dark.

Or, Ghost Goose trying to beat the shit out of his son.
