However, somehow all of that just fell away when Piper walked into the Hera cabin and came face to face with the Oracle of Delphi. She wore heavy black robes, no shoes, and she stood before the statue of Hera, palms up as she quietly chanted some ancient. She had a massive cloud of messy bright ginger curls that she had tied back with a ratty bandana, and when she finally turned around, Piper’s eyes bugged. “Red?”
Rachel startled at the name just as hard and she gaped right back. “Piper?”
Annabeth cleared her throat and looked between the two of them. “Do you two, uh, know each other?”
“We, um, we’ve met,” Piper stammered, awkwardly clearing her throat and looking for any kind of sign from Rachel, who was infuriatingly unreadable.
“Yeah, our dads, uh, run in some of the same circles,” Rachel added, slightly less awkward. She smiled at Piper and held out her hand. “It’s good to see you again.”
